LULING — Representatives from Norco Manufacturing Complex, Dow and St. Charles Parish Public Schools are serving as chairpersons for the 2014 United Way of St. Charles Fall Campaign.
This year’s co-chairs are Travis Chiasson of Norco Manufacturing Complex, Felecia Gomez-Walker of St. Charles Parish Public Schools and Heather Lyons of Dow St. Charles Operations.
“I am honored to have been selected as a campaign chair for the United Way of St. Charles this year,” said Gomez-Walker, St. Charles Parish Public Schools superintendent. “Serving an organization that in turn serves our community is a privilege. I look forward to working as a team with Heather Lyons from Dow and Travis Chiasson from Norco Manufacturing Complex to facilitate a successful campaign.”
United Way of St. Charles conducts a fundraising campaign every fall to develop resources that help support agencies and programs providing direct services in St. Charles Parish.
The United Way Campaign is held during the months of September through December.
“It is my privilege to serve as the United Way of St. Charles Campaign co-chair this year,” said Chiasson, Norco Manufacturing Complex-St. Rose Refinery production unit manager.
“I am excited about sharing what I have learned about United Way and the partner agencies that work to improve the lives of the people living in St. Charles Parish. I am also looking forward to learning from the many talented and generous people that live, work and support United Way in St. Charles Parish.”
The campaign officially kicks off from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2 with the 2014 Battle for the Paddle Gumbo and Jambalaya Cook-off.
The popular event is held at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling and is open to the public.
“The strength of the United Way comes from the unity of each individual volunteer, recipient and contributor,” said Lyons, Dow St. Charles operations associate production director.
“It is my pleasure to serve St. Charles Parish this year as the United Way Campaign co-chair as we focus on channeling that strength into a successful campaign to benefit our community.”
