LAPLACE — A Sewer Force Main Extension Project is underway in eastern LaPlace and is expected to last approximately three months.
The $246,520 project designed by Parish Engineer C.J. Savoie Consultants will reduce sewer problems experienced during heavy rain events.
The project is funded through the parish-wide sewerage construction fund.
Three force mains in the LaPlace area are being extended approximately 2,000 feet each, taking approximately a month to complete each area.
Representatives of the utilities department are working with Mixson Utility Service, LLC at the first site, the Louisiana Federal Credit Union on Robin Street to the intersection of Madere Lane and Martin Drive.
Once pipes are laid, crews will move to the next location in the rear of the River Forest Subdivision from Surrey Drive to the corner of Somerset Road and Lancelot Drive.
The third location, also in River Forest, will begin at 201 Somerset Road and proceed to the corner of Berkshire Street and Windsor Street.
No road closures or driveway blockages are expected with the project, but one lane closures will be in effect in certain areas of River Forest.
Heavy equipment and trucks will be operated in the construction area for the duration of the project.
Patience and caution are requested in the construction area.
All questions and concerns should be directed to the Utilities Department at 985-651-6800.
