VACHERIE — A neighborhood spat between a Vacherie adult and a teenager led to a cyberbullying arrest last month.

Lt. Claude Louis of the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office said Heidi Oubre, 40, of Vacherie, was charged with cyberbullying May 27 after the reported victim’s parents alerted deputies to threats made by Oubre to their child.

Louis did not release the name or age of the reported victim but said cyberbullying consists of threats made by text, Facebook or any other social media to anyone 18 years of age or younger.

Louis said the parents in this case provided a Facebook history of correspondence to deputies between their child and Oubre that dated back more than year.

Oubre, who Louis said lives in the same south Vacherie neighborhood as the juvenile, posted a $1,000 cash bond and was released the same day as the arrest.
