It’s not just for athletes. Local high school students on a more traditional path had their chance to sign on the college dotted line.

East St. John High School’s graduating seniors announced their plans for after high school during the school’s first Academic Signing Day May 13.

The seniors so far have received 132 academic and/or service scholarships, not including TOPS, that total more than $7 million.

Students were given certificates, medals and pens during the ceremony.

Wording on the pens announced the students were “college ready.”
