Lorenzo Edwards, a teacher at West St. John High School, has been chosen as a recipient of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s 2014 Professional Development Scholarship for Educators.

The selection was based on his commitment to his students and their education.

The $675 scholarship was sponsored by Coca-Cola North America and is used to attend the National Restaurant Association’s Summer Institutes.

The Institutes provide technical and professional instruction for restaurant and food service educators.

The goal is to provide educators with a forum to learn cutting-edge skills that they can apply to the classroom.

These week-long intensive workshops are delivered by industry experts at post-secondary institutions across the country.

Edwards is a Family and Consumer Science teacher, ProStart instructor, ServSafe instructor/proctor and 4-H sponsor at the high school.
