Natchitoches – Several River Parish students were recognized by the department of creative and performing arts at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts during end-of-year awards during a ceremony this month in the recital hall located in the Center for Performance and Technology.

Audra Allen, director of the dance program, presented awards to students that were voted on and chosen by their peers.

Cheyenne Ortiz, a senior from LaPlace, was awarded Best Modern Dancer.

Those recognized for four or more semesters of dance included Ethan Guerra, a senior from Lutcher, who has completed five semesters.

Guerra was also recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Architecture.
