LULING — St. Charles Parish Hospital is starting to offer Wellness Enhancement Programs designed to reduce the need for early-onset health care and allow for a more productive quality of life.

The effort is being completed through a partnership with Mackie Shilstone.

Based on the principle of well care, which are measures taken to prevent health issues in the future, the Wellness Enhancement Programs to be offered at SCPH will be 21st century wellness diagnostics coupled with appropriate personalized solutions, using existing SCPH equipment, personnel and services — driven by on-site client visits with Internet and personal follow up.

The Wellness Enhancement Pro-grams are aimed at all individuals with the goal of taking ownership of their health, as well as those looking to increase productivity in their day-to-day lives.

The programs are also suited for law enforcement and fire personnel as a means of risk prevention, hospital officials said.

A trained wellness counselor will take into account the patient’s health-related goals and current condition to decide which wellness program best suits them.

St. Charles Parish Hospital’s association with the Shilstone brand and his programs is beginning, with expanded plans in the future.

With the completion of its East Bank Medical Offices in 2015, SCPH will supply space for the continuation and expansion of the Mackie Shilstone Wellness Enhancement Program.

This facility will be fit to serve as a base for the MLB Lifestyle Management Program for Major League umpires, which allows injured umpires to receive rehab and training.

This area will also open the door to law enforcement and fire personnel as a private training center.

Shilstone has been involved in the wellness sports performance industry for nearly 40 years.
