Marie Katie (Catherine “Kit”) Vicknair Ducote, 81, passed away in peace on Thursday, May 15, 2014.

She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Paul Ducote; mother of Robert Ducote and wife Terri, William Ducote and wife Rebecca, and David Ducote; grandmother of Jennifer, Ashley, Matthew, Andrew, Jeffrey, Jacob and Dylan; and great grandmother of Alex, Grace, Brennan and James.

Ducote was the daughter of the late Joseph Denis Vicknair and Justine Brady Vicknair; sister of James Carroll Vicknair, Drew Vicknair, Carl Vicknair, Peggy V. Teen, Love Joy V. Catoire, Anita Ann V. Abreo, Susan V. Kinney , Nancy V. Duhe, and the late Joseph Denis “J.D.” Vicknair Jr. and Joseph Melvin Vicknair.

A native of Reserve, she was a resident of Marrero for 41 years and Hammond (Live Oak Village Assisted Living) for the past two years.

She will be forever remembered by her family and friends as a kind, compassionate, caring and courageous lady.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, at St. Peter Cemetery, 1550 Highway 44 in Reserve.
