American Legion Laplace Post Commander Dave Gatt is shown presenting a commerative cap to Legionnaire Oneal Boe.

Boe served in the U.S. Army in WWII and parachuted behind the German lines the morning of June 6, 1944, known as D Day. He was one of 52 survivors out of the 350 men from his unit that parachuted on that memorable day.

Because of his actions against the Germans after landing, Boe was presented with the Silver Star. He made many additional jumps over Belgium and the Rhineland.

Boe can be seen pictured in the famous photograph of Gen. Eisenhower talking to the parachuters prior to their jump on June 6.
