LAPLACE – Auditions for St. John Theatre’s summer musical “Anything Goes” are set for 7 p.m. nightly May 12 – 15 at the theater on West Fourth Street in Reserve.

The show, which will be directed by Reserve native Darryl P. Clement, will take the stage on July 18-20 and 23-26.

The story of Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes” centers on madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway who falls in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Reno Sweeney, a nightclub singer, and Public Enemy No. 13 Moonface Martin aid Croker in his quest to win Harcourt.

The musical has introduced such songs as “Anything Goes,” “It’s De-lovely,” “You’re the Top” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”

A large cast of people who are at least 16 and who can sing, dance and have good comic timing is needed for the show. A small number of children will be accepted into the cast.

Those who wish to audition will be taught a part of a song from the show at the audition, and anyone wishing to be considered for a principal part will be asked to read from the script.

Everyone who auditions will be asked to learn and perform a short sequence for the dance audition.
