LaPlace — A man driving a car and a home and two parked vehicles were struck by gunfire in separate shootings from the weekend that are being investigated by the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said at 12:38 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to Wallace after reported gunshots struck a car.
The victim, a 20-old-man from St. James, told deputies his car was struck by several gunshots while he was driving on Louisiana Highway 18 in Edgard.
“The left rear window was shattered, and the victim sustained a laceration to the head from a glass shard,” a press release said. “(The victim) was treated on the scene for the laceration and refused transportation for additional medical treatment.”
Sgt. Dane Clement said authorities could not immediately say if the victim was the intended target of the gunshots.
In a separate shooting at 11:18 a.m. Saturday, authorities responded to the 200 block of East 12th Extension in Reserve following gunshots fired in the area.
“When deputies arrived, they located two vehicles and a house that were struck by bullets,” a release said.
Clement said there were occupants at home but no one was injured.
