On a recent trip to the Barataria Preserve and Jean Lafitte Swamplands, Kelsey Bonilla, a seventh-grader at R.K. Smith Middle School in Luling, held an alligator as the school group toured the bayou. A tour guide entertained the students with facts about the animals and plants that make their home in the Louisiana swamp and interesting information about movies that were filmed on the bayou.
