Marie May Matherne Madere, wife of the late Henry Gerard Madere Jr., died on April 28, 2014.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlean Madere Dooley (Clyde), one son, Glenn Ray Madere Sr. (Cindy), and her grandchildren: Vanessa Bourgeois Rojas (Ryan), Glenn Madere Jr. (Sharon), Julie Madere Babin (Colin) and Tristan and Erin Dooley. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Averi, Caitlyn and Ellie Rojas, Emma Madere and Kelsi and Kylee Babin.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Florestine St. Pierre Matherne and Johnny Matherne Sr.; sisters: Ezil and Elphia Matherne and Bessie Matherne Breaud; and brothers: Burley, Ellis, Newman Sr. (Noeda), Curtis Sr. (Lena), and Johnnis Matherne (Marie).

She previously worked at Colonial Sugars and was well known for her divinity fudge.

Visitation and services were on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina. Rose Lynn Funeral Services of Lutcher was in charge of the arrangements. To sign and view the family guestbook, visit www.roselynnfuneralhome.com.
