LAPLACE – The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office will complete their Buckle Up In Your Truck Campaign Wednesday, May 7.

Pick-up trucks comprise 25 percent of the vehicle fleet in Louisiana. State observation surveys and fatality data show pick-up truck drivers and passengers are less likely to wear seatbelts than drivers and occupants of other types of vehicles.

Because pick-up trucks are two times more likely to roll over than cars in fatal crashes, drivers and occupants of the trucks are being targeted in the safety campaign.
