Man sitting on porch shot in Garyville

LAPLACE – One man was struck as early morning gunshots rang out in Garyville Monday morning.

At 1:05 a.m. on April 28, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 300 block of Historic East Street in Garyville for the report of a subject being shot. The victim, a 49-year-old man from Convent, sustained a gunshot wound to his upper left arm and was transported to LSU Medical Center in New Orleans for treatment.

The victim was conscious when detective arrived, and no one else was injured in the shooting.

The victim told investigators he and two acquaintances were sitting on the front porch of a residence when they heard gunshots, and he was struck with a bullet.

Detectives reported that three bullets went through a window of the residence.

The victim could neither identify nor describe the perpetrator.
