Suspect in custody for 2012 Norco murder

LULING – On Dec. 15, 2012, 21-year-old Jay Bertucci was murdered in his residence at 231 St. Charles St. in Norco.

Witnesses stated that two unknown males knocked on Bertucci’s door attempting to purchase drugs, at which time they were sent away.

A short time later, the two males returned with a third subject wearing a hoodie. His face was covered, and he was armed with a handgun. According to reports, the masked subject pointed a gun at Bertucci at which time a brief struggle ensued and ended with Bertucci being shot in the chest. All three subjects fled on foot. Bertucci was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives received information identifying Connor Dennies, 18, residing at 5004 Jeanette St. in Metairie, as one of the individuals involved.

Based on this information, an arrest warrant was issued for Dennies on the charges of first-degree murder.

Dennies is being held in the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center awaiting arraignment.
