LAPLACE – The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to identify a woman pictured in a surveillance video.

A report was filed on April 2 with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to fraudulent checks being used at several businesses in the LaPlace area. The checks used were business checks from Welder’s Supply and Equipment Rentals out of Port Allen.

Investigators discovered that an unknown black female wearing scrubs was observed on surveillance video at Walmart in LaPlace purchasing computer equipment and several other items with the counterfeit checks. Investigators have reason to believe plans are being made to print more forged checks.
