LAPLACE ¬– Next month construction of a shoreline protection project will begin in the waters of West Lac Des Allemands, southeast of Pleasure Bend in St. John the Baptist Parish.

The shoreline protection project, set to begin in May 2014 and end in early 2015, will reinforce approximately 6,000 feet of shoreline between Pleasure Bend and Pointe Aux Herbes by placing near shore breakwaters in the area and armoring the western edge of the lake. The work is intended to protect the shoreline and adjacent properties from the dangers of continued erosion.

To prepare for construction, all commercial and recreational fishermen, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts are advised that all lines, traps, nets and other fishing gear and equipment must be removed from the construction area andmaterial transport lanes no later than Monday, April 28.

Any items that remain after this date will be considered abandoned and will be removed and disposed of by the construction contractor.
