Lutcher – St. James Parish Hospital announced its final employee of the Quarter for 2013, Michael Magee. Magee was nominated by fellow employees and chosen by the Executive Leadership Team for his dedication to the hospital.

Magee has worked at St. James Parish Hospital for 1.5 years. His current role is groundskeeper. Magee is a 1969 graduate of Denver High School in Colorado. He began his professional career working as an assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital and eventually started a lawn care service, which he owned for three years. He has many years of experience in lawn service and maintenance.

Magee was nominated by Erin Becnel, Twayna Rixner and Lynne Bourg who make up the Purchasing Department. His nomination stated, “His work is reminiscent of Disney World — it’s such a clean and well-maintained place, but you rarely realize the work that goes into keeping it that way, because it is such a natural part of a smooth-running operation. Mike works behind the scenes to bring that Disney-like ‘wow factor’ to the hospital. Mike has been such a great asset to us in purchasing. We appreciate the big things that he does for us, but it’s the consistent way he genuinely cares and wants to help in the everyday things. Day after day, just passing through, he will take a few minutes out of his day, which makes a big impact on ours, to help us. It doesn’t matter what time of day or what needs to be done, he will come in and do whatever is asked of him. More importantly, he does this with a smile and willingness to help. He never hesitates to want to help us, and we so appreciate that.”

Magee was extremely touched by the award.

“Everyone at St. James Parish Hospital is fun to work with. My job here is a lot of work, but it is very enjoyable,” said Magee.
