LAPLACE – St. Charles Catholic High School will host its 14th annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Run for the Son 5K race and one-mile fun run/walk on Saturday March 29.

The one-mile fun run/walk will begin at 8 a.m., and the 5K race will follow at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Both races will begin and end at the St. Charles Catholic High School campus.

Run for the Son is the largest 5K race held in St. John the Baptist Parish each year and one of the largest races held in the River Parishes.

Awards and prizes will be given out after the race. Grand prize winners will be awarded in both races in both male and female categories. Winners in age categories will be awarded in the 5K race only. Prizes are also awarded to SCC students, faculty and alumni.

Entry forms are available at St. Charles Catholic and can be downloaded from www.stcharlescatholic.org. Online registration with credit card and electronic check payment options is available on the school website at www.stcharlescatholic.org.

Entry forms are also available at local businesses such as Smoothie King of LaPlace, Curves and French Riviera.

The entry fee is $15 for adults, $12 for college and high school students and $10 for elementary school-aged children and younger.

Runners and walkers can submit a $10 no T-shirt entry the day of the race.

Proceeds from the race benefit the St. Charles Catholic Fellowship of Christian Athletes and will help finance school athletes’ expenses to national summer camps.

All race participants will receive an official race T-shirt and tickets for concessions and will be eligible for the door prizes to be given away at the awards ceremony. Door prizes include gift certificates, gift cards, gas cards and discount coupons from local restaurants and businesses.

All participants should arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the planned starting time of their race to complete registration and receive a race number. Registration will be held in the school gym.

Race sponsorships are still available for this year’s race. Sponsor business names will be on the official race T-shirt, the race entry form and the race website.
