LAPLACE – The Mosaic Company of Convent will host Paws and Hop for a Cure on March 22 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Lutcher Park.

Paws and Hop for a Cure will include Bark for Life, an offshoot of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and several Easter-related games and activities. All proceeds will benefit Relay

for Life of St. James Parish.

Registration for Bark for Life will begin at 10 a.m., and opening ceremonies are slated or 10:30 a.m. Dog contests, such as cutest dog and cutest costume, will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Bark for Life mimics Relay for Life in that the dogs walk one or two laps around the track. Registration is $10 per dog, and each participating canine will receive a goody bag.

While Bark for Life will keep furry friends busy, there will be plenty of activities for the entire family at Paws and Hop for a Cure.

Photos with the Easter Bunny will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for $10. The fee includes one printed color 5×7 photo.

Games including pick-a-duck, a tic-tac-toe toss, Easter disk and grab bag will be available for $1. Face painting will be available for $5.

An Easter egg hunt is scheduled for 1 p.m. for three different age groups: 1-to-4-year-olds, 5-to-8-year-olds, and 9-to-12-year-olds.

Concessions will be sold throughout span of the event. Mosaic employees and their families will volunteer time to staff the event.

“Mosaic and our employees are very active in many local community events. We are part of the community, and employees enjoy giving back and supporting events where they live and work,” said Jennifer Grigsby, public affairs specialist at Mosaic. “Relay for Life is only one way we work together to support St. James Parish.”
