Claire Vicknair Madere died peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward K. Madere, mother of Nelson Edward Madere and of her adopted daughter the late Pam Millet, grandmother of the late Jay “Blubber” Millet, “her very little angel” and of adopted Todd, Holly and Kay Millet.

She was the daughter of the late Atanase and Amelise Vicknair and sister of Inez V. Goodman and the late Louis, Jules and Joseph Vicknair, Evelyn Guarisco, Suzanne Boudreaux, Ella Delaneuville, Lena Nicholson and Agnes Duhe. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

She was a long-time employee of the original Airline Motors Restaurant, Roussel’s Restaurant and Wal-Mart for 14 years when she retired at age 85. She loved gardening and cooking. She was a native and resident of LaPlace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services. Visitation will be held at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in LaPlace on Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by Mass at noon. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.
