The River Region Art Association or RRAA in Gonzalez is now accepting vendor applications to participate in its Awesome Art on the Bayou festival to be held in Gonzales on Oct. 11 and 12. Vendor booth categories are arts and crafts, literary, non-profit and food. The booth fee is $100 for art and craft vendors with discounts for literary booths, non-profits and RRAA members.

Awesome Art is held on the banks of Bayou Francois in Gonzales adjacent to Jambalaya Park. It is open to the public with free admission and free parking.

The festival objectives are to promote and showcase the arts and crafts of the River Region and to provide an attractive venue for artists and craftsmen to sell their creations. With that in mind there are plans for lots of entertainment and activities for the whole family. The festival will include an art exhibit competition with cash prizes, children’s activities and a scarecrow contest.

Application forms and further information about the festival may be found on-line at riverregionartassociation.org or by contacting festival booth chair Roger Tygier at rtygier@cox.net or 504-421-3639. The deadline for submitting booth applications is Sept. 1.

River Region Art Association is a non-profit organization funded through the generosity of individuals, area businesses and the Parish of Ascension and through in-kind support from the City of Gonzales and Houmas House Plantation. It is also supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.
