LAPLACE – The completion date for the roadwork congesting the intersection of Belle Terre Boulevard and Airline Highway has been pushed back.

On March 13, Project Engineer Steve Perilloux said his best approximation on completion, with weather permitting, would be the middle of June. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development website, construction was originally estimated to be completed by mid-May.

Perilloux said traffic will be shifted to the new, outside lanes during the week of April 14 for the raised median to be constructed. He estimated the project is currently 32 percent complete.

The $2 million project will include a double left turn lane from southbound Airline Highway to Belle Terre Boulevard and will include drainage work, widening of the existing roadway, construction of curb and gutter and a curbed median.

The construction is taking place approximately 2,000 feet, beginning west of Elm Street and ending approximately 700 feet east of Belle Terre Boulevard.
