LAPLACE – The sixth annual St. John Parish Relay for Life Survivor Brunch was held last weekend, with survivors, supporters and volunteers all “Wild About a Cure,” this year’s relay theme.
A sweets table and photo booth complete with a background and props were available to guests at the event. Door prizes were given out and guests played bingo during the brunch.
Sisters Bonnie Comardelle and Anna Ferarro, both breast cancer survivors, attended the brunch with their spouses.
“This is a great event,” said Ferarro. “We’re having a lot of fun.”
The brunch, sponsored by St. John Parish President Natalie Robottom, was held at the VFW Hall in LaPlace on March 8.
Members of John L. Ory’s Beta Clubs served guests and The Brady Bunch, a relay team, cooked the breakfast.
Mary Alice Landeche, a local survivor, opened the event with a prayer. Randie Bailey served as mistress of ceremonies at the brunch.
The 2014 St. John Parish Relay For Life will be held on March 29 at the St. John Community Center from noon until 3 a.m.
