Friday fish frys return for Lent

LAPLACE – Several area organizations and school groups will be serving up meatless meals on Fridays during Lent.

St. Charles Catholic High School’s baseball and softball teams are hosting a fish fry every Friday night during Lent. A meal of fried fish, hush puppies, coleslaw, potato salad and dessert can be picked up by drive-through from the school, 100 Dominican Drive in LaPlace, for $8 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus Council 2409 and St. Anthony Catholic Church are holding Lenten seafood dinners each Friday at the church, 234 Angus Drive in Luling. Dates are March 21 and 28 and April 4 and 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Three dinner options consist of catfish fillets, white beans, potato salad and bread; seafood gumbo with rice with potato salad and bread; and shrimp etouffee with rice, potato salad and bread. Each meal is $8. Various desserts and soft drinks also will be sold. Dinners may be eaten in or taken out.

The Knights of Columbus 9933 will be selling $8 plates of fried fish, white beans and shrimp, salad and bread at Holy Family Church, 155 Holy Family Lane in Luling. Sales will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until all food is sold out.

The Knights of Columbus Red Church Council will sponsor Lenten fish fry dinners each Friday at the KC Home in Norco, 375 Spruce St. Dinners consist of fried catfish, french fries, coleslaw, hush puppies and cake. The cost is $8. Onion mums also are sold for $6. Dine in or take out is available from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Ascension of our Lord Knights of Columbus Council 9623 will sell Friday meals of fried fish, red beans and rice, and bread from 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. in front of AOL School, 1900 Greenwood Drive in LaPlace. Adult plates are $7 and child plates are $5.

St. Peter Catholic School, 88 W. Seventh St. in Reserve, will sell dinners every Friday night during Lent in the school’s cafeteria from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Menu offerings and prices will vary

weekly. Menu choices for each week can be found on the school’s website at www.stpeterreserve.org.
