SPS essay contest winners

The Msgr. Jean Eyraud Council No. 2436 of the Knights of Columbus of Reserve and Garyville recently held its Catholic Citizenship essay contest. This year’s theme was “The importance of Religious Freedom.” The eighth-grade class of St. Peter School in Reserve participated. The winning essays were submitted by: (left to right) first place, Haley Madere, second place, Brandon Lang, third place, Mason Marse, followed closely by Ashely Toups and Calie Henry. All were given gift cards. Also posing in the picture are committee chairman Burt Cashio of the Knights of Columbus. The winning essay will now be judges in the district contest with a chance of going to the state contest.
