LAPLACE – Felix Boughton, director of finance and business for the St. John the Baptist Parish School District, is scheduled to ask the School Board to take action on calling an election for the renewal of existing millages and the rededication of sales taxes at tomorrow’s Board meeting.

Boughton said that there would be no proposed raising of any taxes.

Boughton also plans to have the Board decide whether it wishes to ask St. John Parish voters for permission to issue $10 million in general obligation bonds.

In other items, Albert Burl’s proposal to remove Clarence Triche as president of the Board resurfaces on tomorrow’s agenda.

The proposal stems from a January meeting in which Burl felt he was treated unfairly after he walked in late to meeting and was unable to voice concern over a vote because the vote had already started.

At the end of the Feb. 6 meeting, when presented with the opportunity to take the floor and discuss his proposal to remove Triche as president, Burl said he was waiting for an opinion from the ethics board about open meeting law.

Also on tomorrow’s meeting agenda, Russell Jack is slated to discuss the cost of paving the road on the west side of West St. John High School, and Rodney Nicholas will request approval of a resolution recognizing Black History Month.

The Feb. 20 meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Godchaux Grammar Cafeteria, 1600 River Road in Reserve.
