Local libraries spreading the Valentine’s Day love

LAPLACE – All branches of the St. John the Baptist Parish Library system are offering Valentine’s Day events all week in preparation for the day of love on Friday.

A craft station is set up at the LaPlace branch, located on U.S. Highway 51, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. The station is equipped with paper, markers, stickers and much more for kids of all ages to create Valentine’s Day cards.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, the Garyville branch, located on Historic Front Street, will offer children of all ages the opportunity to make Valentine’s Day cards. The craft will be set up from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m., and all interested participants are asked to pre-register by calling the library at 985-535-6868.

The Reserve branch, located on West 10th Street, is hosting a “love bug valentines” craft from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 for ages 5 and up. The valentines will hold candy and be made with pom-poms and fuzzy stick arms and legs.

On Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, the LaPlace branch will hold a special storytime from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. in which parents or grandparents can read to their children or grandchild. The event in designed for infants up to 2 years old. There will be music, valentine stories, finger plays, the hokey-pokey and more. The last activity will be a simple Valentine’s Day craft. Stickers and snacks will be provided at the end of the event.
