LAPLACE – One LaPlace resident’s swift response and call to police regarding the burglary of her

residence resulted in the arrest of two suspects.

On Feb. 3 at 1:03 a.m., St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 700 block of Colony Drive in LaPlace for the report of a burglary of a residence that had just occurred.

The victim identified the suspect by name and gave a description of the vehicle she had left in.

While en route to

the residence, responding deputies received

a call from 911

dispatchers informing them the suspect left

in a maroon Ford Explorer that was heading north on Cambridge Drive.

A responding deputy saw a vehicle matching the description of the fleeing vehicle and the deputy conducted an investigative stop to identify the occupants.

During the stop, deputies learned the two occupants lied to the investigating deputy by giving the deputy false names.

The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Kisha Jones, 34, of Canton, Miss., and Mack Small Jr., 34, of LaPlace. A computer check revealed both subjects were wanted on outstanding warrants.

The investigation revealed to deputies that Small dropped off Jones, a friend of the victim, at the residence. Jones kicked in the front door of the residence and began to rummage through the victim’s jewelry box.

When the victim turned on the lights, Jones fled and Small picked her up in the maroon Ford Explorer before driving from the area.

Deputies arrested and booked Jones

with simple burglary

of an inhabited dwelling, simple criminal damage to property, resisting an officer, contempt of court

and fugitive from another agency. Jones remains in custody

in lieu of a $52,650

bond.

Deputies arrested and booked Small with principal to simple burglary of an

inhabited dwelling, resisting an officer, a bench warrant and fugitive from another agency. Small remains in custody in lieu of a $52,727 bond.
