LAPLACE –  After several winter weather-related postponements, the St. John the Baptist Parish Council convened on Jan. 31 for a short meeting that resulted in the approval of two bond-related resolutions.

The Council passed a resolution giving preliminary approval to the issuance of $3,000,000 of sales tax bonds of St. John Parish. The Council also voted to employ an investment banker/underwriter and financial advisor in connection with the issuance of the general obligation bonds.

Several items, including discussions on

ferry updates and water bill issues, were postponed for a future meeting.
