Never forget how valuable you are to God

When speaking to a Christian, it’s very likely when the conversation ends that they will say “Be blessed!” Jeanne and I have been blessed abundantly and because of God’s promises, expect to be blessed even more.

With that said, at times I feel a little guilty and unworthy that God has been so good in spite of my sinful past. One of those times was early Wednesday morning as I was walking for exercise. It was very cold. The temperature was 25 degrees, with ice on the ground.

As I walked, I was thinking that with all the people in the world, because I accepted what Jesus did on the Cross, I was special.

The Bible says that if we believe, that should settle it, but being human, that morning I thought, “Why me?”

As I was coming to the end of my exercise and walking faster that usual because of the weather, I noticed a lonely sparrow on a driveway looking for crumbs.

It was then that I was reminded

of what God’s Word says about

sparrows. I didn’t remember exactly where it was in the Bible, but

when I got home I searched and found it in Luke, Chapter 12: 6-7.  “What is the price of five sparrows? A couple of pennies? Not much more than that. Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And He knows the number of hairs on your head! Never fear, you are far more valuable to Him than a whole flock of sparrows.”

Later that morning, I was thinking that my primary purpose for walking is to exercise my body, but God’s purpose that morning was to remind me that I’m valuable to Him. He also keeps me humble by letting me know it’s nothing I did, but what Jesus did.

Salvation is a free gift. The only thing we have to do is claim it.
