America has turned to many gods

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

With everything else being outdated, that beautiful pledge seems to be outdated also. We are not one nation under God anymore. America has turned to many gods. Today, we are a divided nation, with liberty and justice for some.

In a discussion a few days ago, someone asked if I thought we would ever return to the “glory days.” I said, “That’s impossible. When you have a crack in the foundation of anything, it is never the same.”

I realize that as a country, we’ve had our struggles with a Civil War, Civil Rights battles, foreign wars and others. With all of those challenges, people had different views of who God was, but there was never a question of one God.

Today, with arrogance and pride, people have questioned the authority of our Almighty God. I certainly can understand because the God I believe created us also gave us a free choice.

Many people, Christians and non-Christians, are upset about what’s going on in Oklahoma. A New York religious group Satanic temple has submitted an application for a 7-foot tall statue of Satan, depicted as a goat-headed figure with wings and horns — sitting on a throne with smiling children at its side to be erected on the grounds of the Oklahoma State Capitol. They argue that if the Ten Commandments can be on the grounds of the Capitol, they should have equal rights.

The ACLU, which is opposed to all religious monuments on public property, is in favor of the Satan temple’s proposed monument. Do people have a right to profess their beliefs? Without a doubt!

In Deuteronomy 30: 19, it says “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”

As Christians we believe, according to John 14: 6, Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Should we be concerned about the condition of our country and the direction it’s going?  Definitely, while thanking God that the blinders have been removed from our eyes.
