DESTREHAN – The German Coast Farmers’ Market is holding a tree giveaway again this year in an effort to promote gardening and beautification of the River Parishes.

The tree giveaway will occur at the East Bank Saturday Market held at Ormond Plantation, 13786 River Road in Destrehan, on Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. until noon.  The West Bank Wednesday Market giveaway will be held at St. Charles Plaza Shopping Center, 12715 U.S. Highway 90 in Luling, on Jan. 22 from 2:30 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Some of the varieties of available trees are native sweet pecan, shumard oak, live oak, crabapple and assortments of wildlife and arboretum specimens. They will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
