HAHNVILLE – The St. Charles Parish Council will hold its first meeting of 2014 on Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. at the St. Charles Parish Courthouse.

Two home-based businesses are seeking approval from the Council at this meeting for operation.

One of the projected businesses would be an electronic installations business located on Bernice Drive in Luling.

The other proposed business would be located on Villere Drive in Destrehan. The resident is requesting to be authorized as a gun dealer. Stipulations to the proposal already include that no transfers of firearms would occur at the residence and that all guns for sale be secured in a locked safe or cabinet when on site.

A speed limit change in Luling also appears on the agenda. An ordinance requests to change the speed limit from 25 mph to 15 mph on St. Anthony Street between St. Marie Street to Primrose Drive. St. Anthony Street is located south of Highway 90 and is near Mimosa Park Elementary School.

Approval and authorization for the parish to buy property located at Lot 6 in River Bend Business Park in St. Rose will also be voted on during the meeting. If purchased, the property will be used by the parish for drainage purposes in connection with the River Bend Drainage Improvement Project.

The agenda is available for review on the parish’s website.
