Forty-three students from St. Charles Borromeo School in Destrehan recently visited the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge – Medal of Honors Grove during their annual history trip. Led by Lisa Benoit, middle school social studies teacher and middle school coordinator, the Philadelphia trip served as a hands-on learning experience to the social studies curriculum. The tour featured a visit to the Liberty Bell Pavilion, Independence Hall, Franklin’s Post Office, Constitution Center, Philadelphia Art Museum, the home of Betsy Ross and the Battlefield of Gettysburg. Students spent the year before learning about the upcoming trip by research and monthly projects.
