LAPLACE – Christmas Eve was anything but a joyous occasion for four Reserve men when they were arrested on various drug and weapons charges.
Their arrests resulted in the confiscation of four handguns.
On Dec. 24, St. John the Baptist Parish detectives executed a judicial court-ordered arrest warrant on Demario Gray, 27, from East 14th Street in Reserve. When detectives encountered Gray, he was with three other individuals in a parked vehicle in the 200 block of East 13th Street in Reserve.
When the four subjects exited the vehicle, detectives smelled the odor of burnt marijuana. Detectives found marijuana and two Xanax pills in possession of one of the subjects, Antoine Fourcha. Gray was also found in possession of a marijuana cigarette.
Upon a subsequent search of the vehicle, detectives recovered four handguns. Two of the handguns were previously reported stolen from other jurisdictions and another handgun had obliterated serial numbers.
Gray was arrested and booked with possession of marijuana and the outstanding arrest warrant for obstruction of justice-simple assault. His bond was set at $13,500.
Fourcha, 24, of East 13th Street was arrested and booked with possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of schedule III CDS, and drug free zone violations. His bond was set at $26,500.
The owner of the vehicle, Calvin Stewart, 28, of Homewood Place, was arrested and booked with two counts of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm with an obliterated number, four counts of firearm free zone violation, and entry on or remaining in places after being forbidden. His bond was set at $25,000.
The fourth subject from the vehicle, Lajuan M. Williams, 24, also of Homewood Place, was arrested and booked with disturbing the peace, contempt of court and an attachment. His bond was set at $1,050.
All four offenders bonded out of jail on commercial bonds.
