Juveniles charged in burglary of LaPlace home

LAPLACE – On Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3:04 p.m., St. John
the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1900 block of Van Arpel Drive in LaPlace for
the report of the burglary of a residence. When the homeowner returned home, she found the backdoor of her residence forced open.
During the investigation, detectives received information about
two subjects that
were seen standing in front of the residence prior to the reported burglary. Later, detectives saw a subject in the 2200 block of Cartier Drive that matched the description of one of the subjects seen in front of the residence. Detectives identified him as a 14-year-old male from Revere Drive, and the other subject in front of
the residence was
identified as a 16-year-old male from
Belle Terre Boulevard. The two juveniles along with their guardians met with detectives at the Criminal Investigation Division. The juveniles admitted to detectives that they were responsible for the burglary of the residence on Van Arpel Drive, and detectives recovered A stolen laptop and sunglasses.
The juveniles were arrested and charged with simple burglary of an inhabited
dwelling and simple criminal damage to property. Both juveniles were released from custody.
