Creating a tableau

After viewing the painting “The Nightmare” by Henry Fuseli and analyzing the painting’s influence upon Mary Shelly in developing the image of the body of Elizabeth in the novel “Frankenstein,” Deborah Unger’s English IV AP/GT students interpreted both texts to create characters in their tableau. Utilizing characters from the painting and the novel, the students collaborated to craft their gestures, facial expressions and physical poses. Included in the tableau are (front row, left to right) Austin Webre, Caitlin Mikesell, Zachary Borey, Haley Morgan and Derek Walker; and (back row, left to right) James Love, Conner Maise and Daniel Levy.
