LAPLACE – In what’s been a snakebitten season, that Lutcher would fall in the playoffs on a last minute touchdown seems almost tragically fitting.

Alvinosky LaFleur scored the night’s winning touchdown on a 7-yard reception from Quindon Barry with 14 seconds left  to lift LaGrange’s  to a 32-28 victory in a Class 4A bi-district round game.

Lutcher (5-6) scored 21 consecutive second half points and had allowed none until LaGrange’s final score.

LaGrange (6-5) advances to face the winner of Landry-Walker and Ellender, those teams set to play Saturday.

Lutcher quarterback Christian Matherne passed and rushed for touchdowns in the game, his passing score to Destin Porter for 36 yards.  Dondre Semien and Nick Bourgeois also scored on respective 1-yard runs for the Bulldogs.

Matherne’s 8-yard scramble for a touchdown gave Lutcher a 28-24 lead with 2:11 remaining.
