LAPLACE – Music rang out of Frenier Landing Saturday with the kick-off party for Child Advocacy Services’ Cottages for CASA, an annual event held to raise money for Court Appointed Special Advocates program by raffling off elaborate custom-designed playhouses.
This year’s event included two playhouses to be raffled off. The Chateau Cottage is a Victorian style two-story playhouse with a balcony and is being featured at Stine Lumber in Walker. The Coastal Cottage is a beach style playhouse that is open from either end with a fire pole and water element. This playhouse is featured at Alack Wholesale Equipment and Restaurant Supply in Hammond.
There were several silent auctions items, including four tickets to Disney World, a night stay at the Coushatta Casino Resort, a spa day at St. Michael Day Spa and many more. Two live auctions were held, one for a weekend beach getaway at one of the Wyndham Vacations and ResortQuest, won by Paul and Marjie Titus of Hammond, and a second live auction was for a crawfish boil for 50 people courtesy of Tasty Tailz, which was won by Ernie Burns of Hammond.
The raffle for the two playhouses as well as a beach cottage stay will be held on Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. To purchase tickets visit www.childadv.net.
