Mary Trant, supervisor of admissions, was recently named River Parishes Hospital’s August Employee of the Month. Trant received an award certificate, $100, will have her picture displayed on the Employees of Excellence wall
in the main front entrance of the hospital and will be a candidate
for the hospital’s Employee of the Year.
Trant has more than 26 years of experience in patient registration. She has been employed at RPH since December 2001. She is responsible for supervising the admit clerks in the admitting department and emergency department, as well as the information desk operator and cashier. She also consults with patients about billing issues and financial arrangements for inpatient and outpatient procedures.
Trant was recently recognized by a patient she assisted with personal hospital bills. The patient commended Trant for “explaining exactly how the payment process would work.”
When a patient comes into the admitting department, Trant is diligent in her efforts to ensure his or her needs are met in a timely manner. She is very conscientious about patient wait times, often jumping in to register a patient if the lobby appears to be full.
Trant works well with other department managers and supervisors. She always thoroughly researches any issue or concern that arises regarding a patient’s scheduled procedure, addresses the situation with her staff and makes the necessary corrections to ensure the issue will not reoccur.
When asked how she felt being named the Employee of the Month, Trant replied, “I was shocked when hospital administration walked into my office and announced that I was selected the Employee of the Month. It really means a lot to me to be recognized for continuously striving to do the best I can do in my job. I really enjoy working at River Parishes Hospital and being able to assist my friends and neighbors in the community.”
