Early voting for Nov. 16 starts today

LAPLACE – The early voting period for the Nov. 16 elections begins today. Locally, only voters in St. John the Baptist Parish will have an item on the ballot.
A $30 million bond issue is on the ballot for St. John Parish. According to sample ballots supplied by the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office, $13 million of the bond funding will go toward drainage improvement projects, $6 million to the construction and improvement of public buildings and $5 million for improvements to the parish waterworks system. Additionally, $6 million will provide funding to repair and construct parks and recreation facilities, public roads, highways and bridges.
Citizens who wish to vote early may do so in person at their parish Registrar of Voters’ Office or at other designated locations. For a complete listing of early voting locations, visit www.sos.la.gov/ElectionsAndVoting/Pages/EarlyVotingLocations.aspx.
