Destrehan routs Braves 63-8, attempts to move on from controversy

LAPLACE – Destrehan may have had controversy on its plate this week, but it didn’t slow the Wildcat machine.
DHS toppled H.L. Bourgeois 63-8 in the first game following an internet spying scandal, the Wildcats winning in spite of five coaches suspended for the game, including its offensive and defensive coordinators.
Destrehan tailback Will Mathews rushed for 123 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Wildcats.
Destrehan (8-1, 5-1) led 42-8 at hafltime.
Glen Logan and Alex Zayed each returned interceptions for touchdowns in the game while Brandon Scorr returned a fumble for a score. The Braves turned it over six times.
H.L. Bourgeois dropped to 0-9 overall, 0-6 in District 7-5A play.
