LAPLACE – Hahnville absorbed a blow to its playoff hopes Friday night as Central Lafourche’s Da’Quan Gray’s last minute 23-yard go-ahead score lifted the Trojans to a 20-17 upset of the Tigers.
Gray rushed for 170 yards and three scores on 21 carries to lead the way for his team to earn its second District 7-5A victory.
Central Lafourche (4-5, 2-4) began its last drive after a rare missed field goal from Hahnville kicker Craig Ford and marched 80 yards for the win. It converted a fourth-and-7 via a Chandler Richard pass to Josh Joseph to set up Gray’s game-winner.
Lynn Simmons led Hahnville (4-5, 3-3) on the ground with 107 rushing yards. He also tallied 95 receiving yards. HHS quarterback Logan Martindale completed 10 of 21 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns, one to Tyler Lamers and the other to Simmons, the latter an 86 yard score.
HHS led 10-7 at halftime and 17-7 early in the fourth quarter.
