After reading the novel “Lord of the Flies,” Hahnville High School’s Caitlin Mikesell, one of Deborah Unger’s English IV academically gifted students, created a “Lord of the Flies” game board and strategy cards. Her classmates helped by creating additional game questions that related to the novel. As they played the game, the students discussed the significance of literacy facts from the novel. Above, Mikesell demonstrates to her classmates how to play the “Lord of the Flies” game that she designed. Also pictured (clockwise from Mikesell) are Austin Webre, Daniel Levy, Zachary Borey, James Love, Conner Maise, Haley Morgan and Derek Walker.
