On Tuesday, neighborhoods across the River Parishes participated in National Night Out Against Crime with block parties of all sizes.
The annual gatherings, moved a few years ago from August to October because of the cooler weather, provide a chance for neighbors to catch up and for children to step away from video games and computer screens for impromptu games of catch and basketball, all the while taking a stand against the crime that has infiltrated so many communities.
And as usual, many parties featured visits from local first responders.
