St. John Theatre children’s programs

This fall, St. John Theatre, located at 115 W. Fourth St., Reserve, just off River Road next to Connie’s, is excited to present a series of Saturday morning events for school children interested in theater, music and the arts. The events are open to all children in elementary and middle school, and all programs are free.
Registration is required. Register early, as space is limited.
Programming will include:
Oct. 19, 9 a.m.-noon – Acting Workshop and “Director Bob Directs a Movie”
This will be a morning acting workshop including lessons on theater articulation, blocking and overall creativity as well as theatrical input from “Director Bob!” This offering will also include a puppet show from the Porta-Puppet Players.
Oct. 26, 9 a.m.-noon – Halloween Program-ming  “Wizard in a Dither” and Halloween Make-up
This morning workshop will focus on makeup application and production, conducted by local artist Vatican Lokey, who is currently the makeup coordinator for The Mortuary Haunted House in New Orleans, as well as other theater veterans. Each child will get to participate in make-up application.  
This offering will also include a Porta-Puppet Halloween themed puppet show.
Nov. 2, 9 a.m.-noon – Thanksgiving Pro-gram  “The Mayflower Story” and “Edu with Entertainment”
Porta-puppet players will present a Thanks-giving themed program as well as a workshop and “showing of the puppets” including a meet and greet with the characters and interactive demonstrations of puppet construction.
Nov. 9, 9-11:30 a.m. – Miss Claudia’s Singalong Americana Sing-a-long program
This will be a festive sing-a-long of traditional American songs and music from a local artist. Children will be encouraged to participate throughout the event.
Dec. 7, 9-11:30 a.m. – Christmas Singalong program
The final Children’s offering of the year, will be a Christmas themed singalong provided by local musician Claudia Baumgarten. This will feature a number of festive songs for the children to learn and sing.
