LAPLACE —  It took until Week Six for Lutcher to earn its first on-field win of the season, and the Bulldogs did it in resounding fashion.
The Bulldogs knocked off St. Michael’s by a dominating 42-0 margin Friday in the District 6-4A opener for both teams, doing so behind tailback Dondre Semien’s 218 rushing yards and three passing touchdowns by Christian Matherne.
Matherne hit Al’Dontrae Davis, Destin Porter and Treylon Smith for scores. Semien also rushed for a touchdown.
The Bulldogs’ defense held St. Michael’s to nine first half yards.
Lutcher led 28-0 at halftime. The Bulldogs improved their overall record to 2-4 – LHS earned another victory when McDonogh No. 35’s win over the Bulldogs was overturned due to an ineligible player, netting Lutcher the forfeit.
