Apparently stray bullet hits 2 women in leg

LAPLACE – Detectives at the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s office are conducting an investigation concerning a mysterious shooting that occurred on Tuesday night.
At 9:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 600 block of West Fifth Street in LaPlace for the report of a female being shot. When deputies arrived at the location, they found a 29-year-old female lying on the side of the roadway with a gunshot wound to her lower leg. She told deputies she was walking home when she heard gunshots and realized she had been shot in the leg. She did not see anyone or any vehicles when she heard the gunshots.
The victim was transported to Ochsner Medical Center for treatment.
